Blueberry Basil Smoothie

Antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamin C, oh my!  Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is one healthy smoothie!  Keep it organic!  Did you know that organically grown blueberries turned out to have significantly higher concentrations of total phenol antioxidants and total anthocyanin antioxidants than conventionally grown blueberries, as well as significantly higher total antioxidant capacity?

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 heaping handful of baby spinach
  • 1 Cup blueberries
  • 3/4 – 1 Cup non-dairy milk (I opted for creamy hemp milk)
  • 1/4 Cup basil leaves

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.
